Welcome to our weekly VNTS (Visual Novel Translation Status) series, in which we track visual novel translation updates in-house (we don’t rely on /jp/ posts on 4ch, for example) and post it for your enlightenment and enjoyment each Saturday. - Koiken Otome – This one is confusing because their total numbers and the remaining route numbers don’t add up, but there was a big update and it looks like there’s only a couple thousand lines in the common route left.
- Koisuru Natsu no Last Resort – Editing now at 95.59%. Almost there!
- Kono Oozora ni, Tsubasa wo Hirogete – Pabloc’s retranslation project has actually made a fair amount of progress, completing Kotori and the Twins’ routes.
- Kurukuru Fanatic – TL: 87.5%. Only one route remains.
- Mahoutsukai no Yoru – A double-dose of news. First, Loe Quality Translations has announced a translation project for this. At the same time, left largely unreported for a while, CommieSubs has found a new editor and has been making steady progress on editing and finishing their own long-dormant translation project.
- Magical Marriage Lunatics – Dead. RIP. I’m exercizing my EXECUTIVE AUTHORITY to axe this one from the list. Read a bit about the project’s downfall here.
- Noble Works – Shizuru Route completed, translation now at 53,589/57,690 (92.9%). The boys over at The Oxford Comma is Superior Subs will now partake in a brief siesta before finishing the final route.
- Re:Birthday Song – TL: 22%
- Seinarukana – Slated for a September release. This news actually comes from AX, sorry for taking so long to report it!
- Shin Koihime Musou – This was only a footnote for a while but I’m adding it to the list. Total TL: 69.2%
- Shiny Days – DELAYED. Oops. The physical version will be released on the 18th of September, the digital version will be released sooner, whenever it’s ready.
- Starry☆Sky ~In Summer~ – 173/177 scripts translated
- Utawarerumono – Old project newly reported by us. Based on the PSP version with highly enhanced gameplay, with a mostly-new translation.
- Warrior Princess Asuka: Final Chapter – RELEASED. Buy it here.

Zakabox™ Commentary
「It may look like he did nothing, but the truth is Tay actually used Shadow Madness on Decay to make him write this post (hence our victim’s mild confusion as to why he did). Of course, he used a shrinky first – Decay is 4/4 after all. In case it’s not obvious, the guy Tay was playing against was me. I took at least 2 damage from having to actually do something today!
…Alright, enough Hearthstone nerdotry.
That nukige title sure is a mouthful. I wonder what a good abbreviation would be… hokako? Hokakoufun? Anyway, I’m sure its concept will appeal to some people that are definitely not me. Nope.
The header image is a promo image for some Amnesia VN, not sure which. Apparently Amnesia: Memories had a few issues in the QC department for its final route (pics are spoilers somehow, but I don’t know why). Doesn’t look absolutely horrible, but still kind of sad.
Grisaia’s unrated edition took quite a while, didn’t it. I suppose at least it’s out, though it took two months more than the approximate time stated during the Kickstarter process.
Noble Works hasn’t succumbed to the Yuzusoft curse yet. Be afraid, be very afraid.
Starry Sky ~In Summer~ and the Black Wolves Saga title both seem fairly close to TL being completed. Golden Spirit just keeps on giving.
To wrap it up, a FuwaReview of Eden* Plus+Mosaic was posted today by delicious new Fuwa Reviews overlord Ryechu. I didn’t read the review because I plan to read Eden* anyway at some undecided point in the future, but Ryechu wrote it so I trust it’s quality nevertheless.」
Decay’s Musings
So, I’m just kind of here, doing this thing no one asked me to do, because for some reason I can. Hopefully my help isn’t totally unwanted. I kind of went crazy and added all sorts of stuff to the list this week, I think people should know what’s happening out there. But even still, I didn’t list everything. Why? Projects come and go at a moment’s notice, and an unfortunately large percentage of them never amount to anything. I generally don’t like getting people’s hopes up on projects that are unproven. I have the same philosophy when adding new projects to VNDB’s database. So instead, I’ll list some of these projects here.
- Arcana: Hikari to Yami no Ecstasys (Project) – An ambitious individual has taken to porting the game to Ren’py and is also recruiting translators.
- Natsuiro High School (Project) – A translation of a PS3 VN! Very small progress by a lone translator with rough english skills. I tend to be harsh when judging these things, but they are recruiting and the right addition of talent can turn things around in an instant. Also a dating sim and probably not a VN?
- Kami no Rhapsody (Project) – A struggling translation project in desperate need of help. They have yet to complete the Prologue but they haven’t given up hope yet.
With any luck, Tay will be back with us next week. Until then, I’ll be simultaneously obsessed with Hearthstone and Metal Gear Solid 5. MGS5 is receiving stellar reviews and I can’t possibly be more excited. I look at my pre-order on Steam longingly every day, awaiting September 1st with bated breath. Just a few more days! I better finish it fast, too, because it won’t be long before a veritable cavalcade of new translation releases starts happening. You will quite literally not have time to read everything that’s coming out before the end of the year, so you better pick your VNs well.

Pretty beefy progress this round, not bad at all. Looking forward to see Loe push out Mahoutsukai no Yoru – despite what some may think about the *type* of VNs he’s translated so far, he’s always been diligent and does fairly well at writing.

A lot of the releases has been nukige, which Tay doesn’t like to have on the front page. There have indeed been some non-nukige releases, though. I’ll try asking him about it. Do keep in mind that no matter what, we do not post downloads anymore.

Anyways, for the Monster Girl Quest Paradox section it is incorrect, as I have been following his blog for some time.
The “Temporarily on hold: No, it’s definitely not dead!” quote is actually referring to a side project he was working on, Sei Monmusu Gakuen: https://vndb.org/v9338
With the announcement of Paradox, Dargoth took it upon himself to make its translation a higher priority than Sei Monmusu, hence the temporarily on hold statement. If you want proof you could message him yourself or just check out his recent blog posts where you’ll see updates on his Paradox translation work.
Additionally, the team column progress link for Paradox just links to Dargoth’s About page. Perhaps linking the latest blog post regarding Paradox instead might be more appropriate?

Just a quick question — for WA2, I still don’t understand what is Coda, iirc it is some sort of after story (?) — is it included in the Closing Chapter or separate?
I’m quite sure Seinarukana won’t be released this month, considering JAST doesn’t have a preorder page up, nor have they been blogging about it or promoting it on Twitter. My current guess is November, though I can’t remember where I got that.
