Welcome to our weekly VNTS (Visual Novel Translation Status) series, in which we track visual novel translation updates in-house (we don’t rely on /jp/ posts on 4ch, for example) and post it for your enlightenment and enjoyment each Saturday. If you find any errors, or you think a project is missing from this list, please let me know in the comments. Any new updates are marked by orange text.
The Short Version:
Only the New Stuff
- AstralAir – ~2% Bump in TL: 30,748 / 63,940 (48.09%)
- Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient – We had a surprise patch release for this game. User “GUMI Is Life” posted a link to his full patch over on the Fuwanovel Forums. His TL was done as a project for University, so — critically — understand that this guy isn’t associated with the other Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient team over at Hysteric 4 U. The H4U team is as surprised by this as the rest of us, so let’s give them a little time to form a gameplan and we’ll check in next week to learn more about how they want to go forward with the project.
- Fault Milestone Two was well-received by our FuwaReviews team (read the review here!) Buy the game on steam: link.
- Koi ga Saku Koro Sakura Doki (Koisaku) – Another ~2% bump in TL: 47963/49257 (97%)
- Koiken Otome – It’s been a while since we saw a bump in editing, so this was a fun surprise! Thanks and ‘good work!’ to the team: 83.93% (34,166 lines) edited
- Added “Lover Able” to VNTL-Moon Aggregator. If you haven’t looked at the project before, be sure to go wish the team well.
- MangaGamer Releases which I’ve been bad about posting: (MG itself is NSFW, so access at your own professional peril) First up: A Kiss For The Petals: Remembering How We Met; Secondly: Beach Bounce – Adult version; Thirdly: The Menagerie; Last up: Warrior Princess Asuka: The Final Chapter
- MangaGamer also posted a few updates, including Supipara (Ch 1) edit bump up to 81.47%
- Rance Quest Magnum – TL bump up to 44%
- Utawarerumono Portable – Got an update message: “Basic is taking a small break from translating at the moment to work on other things, and im just poking at the already translated content at my own slow pace. Binary is being mostly idle since there’s nothing more to hack as far as that project goes. Don’t fret people!
- White Album 2 – Another bump! TL: 29.52%;
- Witch’s Garden – Great to see some momentum building, again : ). TL: 57.01% (38311/67201);
- Don’t forget the Muv-Luv series Kickstarter!

Zakabox™ Commentary
「So, I write this thing last, yet it goes on top… and way down there Tay’s worried about me amusing myself at his expense, or some similar Swedish viking trick. Well, going first has always increased my win percentage in Hearthstone – might as well make the best of it and pray for a 1-drop in my opening hand.
This week I have done the unfathomable for an active VN community member: I’ve read visual novels. I read the short yuri visual novel Remembering How We Met to be able to review it, since Ryechu really wanted me to for some reason – I’ve got a rough draft ready at the moment, so you might actually see it soon enough. Especially if he actually gives me writing rights already *grumble*. I’ve also gotten a decent bit into Yoshine’s route in Brass Restoration, which is proving much better than I expected it to be. It’s the last route before I’ll be done with the vn and can go ahead and rate it an 8 because Brass Restoration is a p. good visual novel. It’s also free and needs no patching. What are you waiting for? Download it.
While SakuSaku (or KoiSaku, even the translation group seems unsure) is close to fully translated, one must keep in mind that until editing/qc finishes this doesn’t necessarily mean anything. I’ve said this many times about many projects, but it bears repeating.
If you’re interested in VN reviews, boy does Fuwa Reviews has something for you. Unlike me, but rather like Decay (a p. good writer as it turns out), the review team actually writes stuff. Sometimes it’s solidbatman giving Little Busters 4/10 (for valid reasons.) Sometimes it’s reviews boss Ryechu showing you where the cool VNs at. Sometimes there’s the out there stuff. And yes, even the Sakura series, which I refuse to link to. What I’m trying to say here is just give it a whirl. This promotional effort is in no way related to some of my work going up there soon.
It’s nice to see progress on G-Senjou’s summer release. At least they’re still not as bad as JAST. Probably. I haven’t actually checked.
With Supipara editing getting there, I’m interested in how it will all turn out in the end – will the sales of the first part even be enough to fund the second? It took a while to get the $100k to begin with, and I can’t help but think that considering Supipara’s lower quality storywise it will sell less than eden*, but I guess we’ll just have to see how it goes. Well, I guess if it looks better it might sell better, come to think of it. Aah, the shallowness of it all mires me deep, and yet I too am cut from the same cloth at times. Mostly when evaluating OELVNs.
I was recently tipped off about the ARPG Eternal Senia by a friend on Twitter. It’s got a nice storyline and interesting gameplay, where the creator did away with having to swing your weapon and just used the arrow keys instead. The translation (from Chinese) could be significantly better, but it’s at least coherent if not grammatically quite there. Yes, I can randomly tip people about non-VNs here.
On a closing sidenote, I’m not the one responsible for the header pic’s date being in the wrong order. Funny thing though, Tay’s original pic actually had it as 10/02/2015 – making him one of the few people who have ever been wronger than wrong.」
Decay’s Musings
Whew, this has been quite the week for me. Many of you may have noticed how dead the Fuwazette blog has been. It always made me a little depressed to look at it and see nothing but the weekly VNTS posts. I thought the blog deserved better than that, and I’ve been toying the idea with doing news posts for a while now. Just as I was on the verge of asking, OriginalRen’s controversial post about the Fuwanovel community on the forums pushed me over the edge.
I’ve been wanting to find a way to help the site, but I’m no good at coding, I’m a crap designer, I don’t have much money for donating, I’d make a piss-poor project manager, I have practically no applicable skills. I’m not even confident on my writing ability. But it hit me that I had the opportunity to do something no one else was willing to do, and if my writing would turn out to be passable, then this could be the one way I could contribute to making Fuwanovel a better site.
At this point, I think it’s pretty safe to say that Fuwanovel is the single most important online enterprise of mine. I’ve now found out that I care more about this site than I’ve cared about any other online entity for the last decade. Not since me and some online friends ran an emulation fan site and forum from 2000 to 2005 during some of the most formative and active years of the emulation scene have I felt this attached to a web site. A year ago, I never expected to hold any of these sentiments, but Fuwanovel and the VN translation scene has found a special place in my heart and I’m glad to be a part of the team now, able to contribute in my own way. And a very special thanks to Tay for giving me this opportunity and Zakamutt for having my back and checking my articles. I hope to keep this going a while to come.
This week had some interesting news, too! That Corpse Party 2 translation sure came out of nowhere, huh? I’ve yet to play any of the games in that series but they’ve always interested me. Maybe it’s about time to start. All of the new announcements seem interesting, it’s cool to see a new company establish itself in this market, there’s definitely room for more.
And I said I’d have more thoughts on KoiRizo this week. Well, I tried. I’ve started it up multiple times since then and I think I’ve progressed maybe 30 or 45 minutes. I think I’ll put it down for a while and come back to it later during a slower season. Maybe I’ll be able to see it from another angle and appreciate it more. That’s all from me this week, see you all next week!
TAYsteful™ Thoughts
This was a fun post to write. Mostly because I got to jam with Decay and Zaka and I was listening to some great Wizard Rock jams from The Mudbloods and I was chatting with, like, five devs and/or translation groups all at once. It kind of felt like eating with a bunch of friends in the cafeteria. Or maybe a band reunion.
Decay and I wrote our essays before Zaka this week, which is always a dangerous move. If you weren’t aware, Swedes are the cleverest of the -edes, and thus the most dangerous. Zaka is additionally a Viking Lord, so that makes him twice the threat.
I’m a bit conflicted about the Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient situation. It’s never fun when another group appears and beats you to the punch (Air, anyone?), and it’s tough when the patch comes in from out of nowhere. The H4U team is in a tough situation, and it’s never fun when life hands you a situation like that. All they can control is how they re-orient and react to the news. I hope we can all offer them a bit of support and then give them a bit of time to decide how they want to move forward.
This week’s header image is from the Muv Luv PS3 OP in honor of the Kickstarter. Have a good week, everybody!
do we have no idea when the shiny days restoration patch is gonna come out?
Once all the physical editions get sent out and the game has been patched to play normally then the restoration patch will probably become available.
so they’re making another patch to fix all those crashes and errors?
@Decay: you can do it! More blog posts mean more interesting content! I honestly love reading the commentaries. The translation updates are more like icing on the cake.
People come for the updates, but they stay for the Zakabox…
Also — totally agree! Decay’s a rockstar.
Euphoria still in scripting? *sigh*
I’m still waiting for the day Koichoco is going to be realeased, I have faith that day will come, sooner lor later
i feel for you.
especially since of the three games on my waiting list which “should be” close to release are koichoco, subahibi and koisaku.
but of the three of them, koichoco is the one for which i have the least faith on…
You know at this rate AoKana will be out before KoiChoco finish. Only two route left on Aokana and translation feel super fast.
Aokana has stalled, though. The translator, Astro, is focusing on other projects right now. Namely, Clover Days and the freshly started Reminiscence, which isn’t on this list yet.
Mangagamer, Euphoria when? 🙁
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=p40n76cmtUY
Can someone tell me if this works? I tried installing it (ton of adds) u can decline all adds. AVG came up with a threat and so I removed it. I’ve installed VN in the past that had threats on AVG and they worked fine.
This is bunny black 2 English translation
No one has made a real Bunny Black 2 translation, there isn’t one that exists. If that actually does install a translation of some sort, it would be an unedited google translation. I wasn’t aware that there are some sites that are trying to profit by installing adware/malware on people’s computers using bogus translated eroge as the bait, that’s pretty scummy.
Even if there are options to not install the adware, I expect it to sneak some in anyways regardless of what you choose. Please do not download anything from that site in the future. Their translations aren’t real and you’ll infect your computer with malware.
Supreme Candy Translation was dropped?
Sort of, maybe? Every once in a rare while we hear some whispers of activity from Habluka or from people associated with him, but that’s been it for well over a year now. If he is to actually release a finished translation, it probably won’t be until far into the future.I think we should consider removing it as well from the list.
